2011 is the Quadzilla Racing Team’s first year of official racing. After several years of racing as privateers, under playful banners such as “South Bay Tools” and “Sleep Deprived Cluster Flies”, some of us thought it would be fun to put something more official together. With an eye towards being competitive, but still having fun, Quadzilla Racing hopes to become a thriving mountain bike racing club for riders throughout the Bay Area.
Why the Quadzilla name? Well, what other name allows you to have a Dinosaur on a Penny-farthing with knobby tires as your logo? Plus, rumor has it this was one of JQ’s nicknames, back when he wasn’t even as fast as he is now…
For folks who aren’t as interested in slapping on a number plate and lining up next to dudes with shaved legs, we have the Quadzilla Club, the recreational arm of Quadzilla Racing. The Quadzilla Club try to exhibit the best qualities of cyclists which includes respect for the trails and other trail users.
Quadzillians are a friendly and welcoming group of riders. We also encourage beginner riders and assist with mechanical repairs if possible. Many of our members carry extensive spare parts and tools to exact trail side repairs and tuning. We have even been known to render first aid assistance in emergency situations to ensure that other trail users are taken care of.
